  El Quseir  –Kift / Idfu Roads (Restricted): The direct inland mountain roads connecting  Marsa Alam  /  El Quseir  to the Nile Valley (like the  El Quseir  –Kift road) are strictly reserved for Egyptian citizens and commercial transport. Tourist drivers and taxis attempting these shortcuts will be turned back at police checkpoints.

  Travel Permits: Private drivers, taxis, and tour operators must obtain a police travel permit from the Tourist Police before setting off.

  Required Documentation: You must provide your driver/tour company with a copy of your passport (and visa page), hotel room number, and full itinerary at least 24 hours in advance.

  Checkpoint Stops: Expect several military/police checkpoints along the coastal road and inland turnoffs. Keep your physical passport on you at all times; digital copies on a phone are generally not accepted.

  No Direct Flights: There are no direct domestic flights operating between  Marsa Alam  (RMF) and  Luxor  (LXR).
