Day Tour to Saladin Citadel & Khan Khalili Bazaar from Cairo

Marsa Alam Tours representative will pick you up from your accommodation in Cairo or Giza. to enjoy an amazing trip to Day Tour to Saladin Citadel & Khan Khalili Bazaar from Cairo .

Our tour begins at the grand entrance, where you’ll walk through centuries of history. Built by Saladin in the 12th century,The Citadel of Salah al Din  was Egypt’s center of power for nearly 700 years, witnessing the rise and fall of the Ayyubids, Mamluks, Ottomans, and Muhammad Ali’s dynasty. It wasn’t until 1874, when Khedive Ismail relocated the government to Abdeen Palace, that the citadel ceased to be Egypt’s ruling seat.

As we step inside, you’ll see the towering Mosque of Muhammad Ali, an architectural gem built in the Ottoman style. Look up at its two elegant minarets, each soaring 82 meters, and its grand central dome, standing at 52 meters. Inside, the mosque’s lavish interiors and intricate designs will leave you in awe. This is also the final resting place of Muhammad Ali Pasha, whose tomb lies within.

Next, we visit the Al-Nasir Muhammad Mosque, built in 1318 AD by Sultan Al-Nasir Muhammad ibn Qalawun. This mosque was the heart of religious and political life during the Mamluk era, serving as the official congregational mosque for the rulers of Egypt.

It is worth mentioning that electric cars are available for visitors to travel around the citadel round trip for only 20 Egyptian pounds.

Before concluding our tour, take some time to explore the bazaar inside the citadel, where you can shop for souvenirs, handicrafts, and local delights. Enjoy a refreshing drink or snack from one of the on-site shops.

Khan el khalili Located in the heart of Islamic Cairo, near the Medieval walled city of the Salah al-Din , built on the old burial site of the Fatimid Caliphs, who founded Cairo in the 10th century. Trading in the souk dates from the 14th century, but its elaborately-carved monumental gates and grid-like alleyways were constructed in the 16th century under Egypt's last powerful Mamluk ruler.

While the souk is no longer strictly divided into specific trading areas, the gold merchants, coppersmiths, and spice vendors districts remain quite distinct. Throughout the rest of the bazaar, stalls are full of colourful lanterns, candles, jewellery, perfumes, musical instruments and other handicrafts - you can pretty much find anything you could possibly want within its walls.

After tiring yourself out exploring the shops and stalls, you won't need to go far for a well-earned break. The souk is also home to a number of restaurants, street food vendors and small but very traditional coffee houses.
